Dear Kopachuck Families,
It is with pleasure that our Kopa staff welcomes everyone to the 2020-2021 school year!
Administrators and our office manager completed the master schedule in early August and we have been cleaning up student schedules for these past few weeks. Schedules will be finalized and released one week before school starts.
Many of our teachers have been participating in technology trainings. We’ve been reading books about equity and other topics that help us create a positive culture. Our custodians have been sprucing up and sanitizing our building. In addition, we’ve been meeting with our district Capital Projects team to plan for Kopachuck’s modernization.
While we know this school year will be different than previous ones, as always we are committed to providing engaging learning and a supportive environment.
Students will begin the 2020-2021 school year on September 8. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and as required by the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, students will start the school year from home and come back to school for in-person learning as soon as possible using a dialed approach. For the first few weeks of school, we will focus on social-emotional wellbeing and students will participate in relationship building and reflective activities to set the stage for learning.
As in previous years, families will still be able to participate in an Open-House type of opportunity. Our Meet the Teacher event will be held virtually this year and more information, such as the date and time, will be forthcoming. Please visit our webpage for supply lists, the school schedule, student meals, and other pertinent information.
We ask that you ensure your information is updated in the Parent Portal so that you will receive School Messengers periodically. Specifically, we send out a parent newsletter every Friday and will keep you informed as information becomes available.
We look forward to a great year with you and your child!
Heidi Fedore, Principal & Nate Hudac, Assistant Principal
