Principal's Welcome

Dear Kopachuck Middle School Families,

I hope this message finds you all doing well and enjoying the summer! It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I introduce myself as the new Principal of Kopachuck Middle School. I am truly honored to join this incredible community and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead in the upcoming school year.

I believe that creating a supportive and fun learning environment is essential for our students to thrive. Working together with our dedicated staff, talented students, and amazing parents, I’m confident we can make this year a fantastic one, ensuring that every student at Kopachuck Middle School reaches their fullest potential.

I’ve been in education for 22 years and the previous 9 years as Principal of Poulsbo Middle School.  Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working in various educational roles, including teaching math and science in both Tacoma and South Kitsap School Districts and Assistant Principal in Selah and South Kitsap School Districts. I have seen how a strong school community can positively impact students’ growth and success. I’m committed to building on the great work already happening at Kopachuck Middle School and ensuring that every student feels valued and a sense of belonging.

Kopachuck Announcements and Information

  • We know that everyone is excited to know what their school day will look like on September 3rd.  We are currently working on cleaning up schedules and making sure new students are scheduled into classes.  

    We will have schedules available online on powerschool portal  August 28th at 4:00.  Students schedules are based on student elective requests and clustering of special programs.  In order to be fair and consistent with all families, schedule changes will only be made when an error has occurred such as a missing class or a core class is duplicated.

  • New Student Orientation – 1 – 3:30 p.m. Thursday, August 29

    Open House – 5:30 – 7 p.m. Thursday, August 29

    First Day of School - September 3, 2023

  • The Peninsula School District is committed to creating equitable and inclusive learning environments. To achieve this, PSD will supply all basic educational school supplies to Pre-K through 12th grade students. Click the link below to see supply lists.

  • The first day of school can be stressful for students that aren’t familiar with a building or staff, so we have scheduled orientation for all NEW Coyotes! This includes:

    • ALL incoming 6th graders
    • NEW 7th and 8th graders

    The goal of this day is to create a smoother transition into middle school by providing a block of time for a “practice schedule run.”  Students will pick up their class schedule, then follow that schedule as they meet their new teachers.  ASB student leadership will be present as guides in the hallway and to assist students.

    Returning  Student Open House & School Pictures August 31, 2023

    Even if you were a Coyote last year, the start of a new school year can still be exciting and stressful!  All returning students are welcome to visit Kopachuck on Thursday, August 31st anytime between 11:00 - 3:00 in order to:

    • Pick up and walk through their class schedules

    • Open up and move into their new lockers

    • Take their school pictures

    • Reconnect with some of their Coyote classmates and staff after summer break!

    Returning students- and their families- are welcome to stop by this “open house” session for as long or as short as needed to feel more ready for the first day back the following week.

    Parent Open House Aug 30, 2023:

    You will have an opportunity to meet our staff and visit classrooms at our Open House, August 30 at 5-7:00pm.  We will also be hosting an iReady Parent Information session in the Commons. Come and learn about our diagnostic and how you can support student goal setting and achievement at home. 

  • School begins at 8:15 am and ends at 2:45 pm. For organization and planning, each student will receive a Kopachuck student agenda, courtesy of the Kopachuck PTSA and KMS. 

  • Bus schedules will be posted around the school entrance windows and may also be found on the district web site on the Transportation page. Routes and up to date pickup information is also available in the MyStop App.
